چکیده
Background: Quantitative measurements of vitreous inflammation using vitreous/retinal pigment epithelium-relative intensity (VIT/RPE-Relative Intensity) have been described recently. In proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), plays a central role in the pathogenesis, inducing retinal fibrosis and contraction. However, no attempts yet to be made analyze severity PVR progression. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted by reviewing OCT image sets obtained from patients divided into four groups: (1) vitreoretinopathy, (2) intermediate posterior uveitis, (3) panuveitis, (4) normal healthy eyes Cipto Mangunkusumo Kirana Eye Hospital between April 2021 – December 2021. images were then analyzed ImageJ software for VIT/RPE-relative intensity. Results: total 19 eyes, 12 intermediate-posterior uveitis 16 panuveitis 28 recruited this study. The VIT/RPE-Relative Intensity significantly higher (0.415±0.178) than (0.236±0.043, p=0.002) (0.30±0.07, p=0.023). Compared both groups VIT/RPE relative (p = <0.001 each group). Conclusions: may offer quantitative pathogenesis PVR. Comparison with cellular is required validate finding.

Fulminant proliferative vitreoretinopathy in syphilitic uveitis.
BACKGROUND Syphilis is a reemerging sexually transmitted disease that can lead to any type of intraocular inflammation. Prognosis of syphilitic uveitis after appropriate therapy is classically regarded as favorable. However, visual threatening complications may develop, rarely including rhegmatogenous/tractional retinal detachment (R/T RD) and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. FINDINGS We repo...
متن کاملResveratrol inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition of retinal pigment epithelium and development of proliferative vitreoretinopathy
Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) is a serious complication of retinal detachment and ocular trauma, and its recurrence may lead to irreversible vision loss. Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells is a critical step in the pathogenesis of PVR, which is characterized by fibrotic membrane formation and traction retinal detachment. In this study, w...

PURPOSE. The migration, proliferation, differentiation, and adhesion of cells and other cellular functions are influenced by the surrounding extracellular matrix, in normal and wound-healing conditions. The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of enzymes that degrade and remodel the extracellular matrix and, thus, play a central role in the wound-healing process. Proliferative vitreore...

PURPOSE To study the involvement of apoptosis using different apoptosis markers in PVR pathogenesis. METHODS The presence of mRNA coding for Fas, Fas ligand (FasL), and TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) was investigated in vitreous samples from 46 consecutive patients-25 with PVR, 11 with retinal detachment (RD) not complicated by PVR, and 10 with macular hole (MH)-using RT-PCR. F...

PURPOSE Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) is an excessive wound-healing process and the major complication in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. The present study was designed to investigate the expression of keratinocyte transglutaminase (kTgase) in PVR membranes and retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells and to evaluate its expression in response to growth factors known to be increased in...
